Sylvie is a lampshade born of moody mists. Dusty-blue satin drapes her, catching light like twilight on water. Black lace winds across her in sigil-like shadows. Clear beads hang like dew droplets. She glows as if lit by lanterns through fog, softening the room and inviting quiet wonder.
Wrapped in black satin with a scattered floral pattern, finished with black trim and beadwork. Inspired by ’90s goth aesthetics—dark lipstick, worn velvet, and late nights. When unlit it reads as pure black; beneath the surface lies a hidden red satin that only awakens once lit.
Imagine stepping into the most glamorous 1960s powder room. Floor-to-ceiling tiles in this exact colour set the scene. Coloured satin lends a dreamy, nostalgic glow, while black lace and short bead trims add theatrical drama. Equal parts playful and sophisticated, the space feels like a vintage film still - timeless, polished, and irresistibly alluring.
The vision
A lover of vintage curiosities, gothic silhouettes and romantic decay, I’ve always been drawn to objects that feel like they’ve lived a hundred lives. Frustrated by the lack of antique and gothic lighting in Australia that matched my vision, I began making pieces for my own rooms - lampshades that set the tone of the room, a soft glow still with a dramatic flair, the focal point of the room.
In 2025 I decided to share my love for the craft with others and began sewing and selling these shades, each hand sewn, rebirthed from run down vintage shades in need of new life . My work is for people who want homes that feel lived-in, quiet, spell bound and haunted. A space that feels yours with special pieces that speak to you, encouraging you to slow down and embrace the darkness with a warm glow.
